MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
1498
Hongzhi Reign-11th Year
Officer Deng Zan and Assistant Officer Wang Zhe were assigned to govern land region which was separated from Xinhui County.  Judge Lin Pan was assigned to handle the court on judicial affairs.
1499
Hongzhi Reign-12th Year
In February, Xinning County was officially established.
QING DYNASTY (1644-1912)
1684
Kangzhi Reign-23rd Year
In February, five of its restricted ports were opened for foreign trade.

Bamboo flowers sprout open as the bamboo trees grow extremely ill.
1881
Guangxu Reign-7th Year
On January 19, Chixi Town experienced a landslide earthquake.   Earthquake was heard over a distance of 5 kilometers.
1892
Guangxu Reign-18th Year
On October 20-21, cold weather prevailed the town of Chixi.   Large amounts of rain were immediately frozen to ice upon contact with the ground.   On November 29th, strange cold weather accompanied by a major snowstorm event also occurred.
1895
Guangxu Reign-21st Year
Taishan's first set of collection of poems "Ning Yang Poetry Set" was published.  In the same year, the first grade school was founded and donated by Mei Wan's Village Wu Li Men and Xi Ze's Village Wu Yao Yu along with 500 other Wu family members.
1908
Guangxu Reign-34th Year
Taishan's first educational arts organization was established, Xinning's Educational Society
1909
Xuantong Reign-1st Year
Xinning's railroad system was completed for train accessibility.
1910
Xuantong Reign-2nd Year
Xinning opened its first middle school (now known as Taishan's No. 1 Middle School.
Republic of China (1912-1949)
1914 Xinning County name was officially changed to Taishan County.
1919 Overseas Chinee built Taishan's first electric power station, Yong Ming Power and Electricity Company
1921 Taishan's Public Highway Bureau was established.
1924 During the spring, Taishan secured approval from Dr. Sun Yat-Sen for self-government.  In the same year, the first public highway segment was built connecting Taicheng's Taihuo Road to Yuanshen Road.
1928 Taishan's first telephone company, "Same Voice Telephone", was formed.
1931 On September 18, the Japanese initiated its conquest into China by taking over Manchuria.  The event, known as the "Mukden Incident", was an excuse by the Japanese to a bombing which destroyed a small segment of the Japanese-owned South Manchurian Railway.
1932 Taishan's first overseas-Chinese funded middle school was built in the town of Duanfen.
1936 On May 20, Duanfen Town experienced an earthquake.  Walls were seen vibrating while winnows shook loudly.
1937 Japanese begins its conquest into Taishan.  On December 28th, the Japanese invaded Shangchuan Island.
1939 Taishan's Youth Vanguard Against Japanese Aggression was formed.
1941 At 1 PM on March 3, Japanese troops from Doushan Town marched into Taicheng Town (the capital of Taishan) along the path of Chonglou Town's Tainan Road led by a Chinese traitor.  By 4 PM, Taicheng was ceded to the Japanese.  On that day alone, the Japanese have killed a total of 282 people, burned down 534 stores and houses, and plundered goods worth more than 3.6 million dollars.  On March 10, the Chinese Nationalist Army took back Taishan.  However Taishan was surrended to the Japanese again on September 20th.
1942 Bamboo flowers sprout open.  Afterwards, the bamboo trees died.   Peasants use the bamboo rice seedlings to cure hunger.
1945 On the morning of July 24, Japanese troops stationed at Doushan Town and Chonglou Town were defeated by the Chinese troops.  The Japanese were then pushed back to Taicheng Town.  On August 15, the Japanese declared an unconditional surrender as Taishan recovered.  On December 27, owners of each of the individual highway segments come together to form a car travel company that manages all of the county's public highways.
1947 The Sixth Taishan Athletic Games held its opening cermeonies at Taishan Park.   On June 10, Taishan volleyball team received gold medal in Guangdong's Province championship contest.
1949 Taishan's volleyball team participated in Kaiping's "Hanling Cup" volleyball contest and won three gold medals.
PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA (1949-Present)
1949 Taishan was officially liberated.  Mass circles of more than 30,000 people celebated the liberation movement in Tashan Park.   After liberation, the Communist Party leadership has created an environment where the government has brought peace to its people and all of its enterprises have grown more prosperous.  Technology, education, sports, and health continue to attain new achievements. Taishan is thus ranked as one of Guangdong's Province advanced educational city and one of the country's top hundred cities in technology strength.  As the city's infrastructure changes with each passing day, the city's appearance is constantly taking a fresh new look while public order is stable.
